Shape of Switzerland

We love Switzerland. We loved it so much that this was our third time traveling to it in two years. The views are magnificent, and the atmosphere is enchanted - they are difficult to describe in words and not easy to capture through a lens. However, I tried.
To avoid being overwhelmed by the rich colors of Switzerland's landscapes I tried to imagine how it was to document such expeditions before color film was invented. You could also think am witty and forgot to bring my colors to the trip.
If you do insist on wanting to know what the colors we saw were, I can tell you, you won't believe me anyway. The forests and grass were rich with greens, the lakes were turquoise and inviting, the sky was cheerfully blue and the mountain peaks were so white with snow that my camera had trouble capturing those.
I apologize beforehand for the inappropriate amount of mountain photos. It was impossible to look away and not press the shutter trigger. I could have just called it the Mountain Gallery.

An old friend of mine once told me that there are 3 basic types of beautiful scenery - views of bodies of water, views of greens like forests or fields and mountains. Then he concluded that Switzerland must have one of the most stunning views because you can easily capture in a single frame all three of those.
And there is no shortage of views like these in Switzerland.
Villages surrounded by mountains. In the summer they are swarming with tourists going to or coming from a hike. In the winter they turn into luxury ski resorts.
